Community Mobilization
We believe that access to good information is key to prevention, whether it be prevention of HIV/AIDS, TB, teenage pregnancy, or gender-based violence.
Therefore, we work closely with other community stakeholders to prevent HIV transmission from mother to child, to give youth the skills and information to make good choices to protect them from HIV infection and teenage pregnancy. We provide HIV testing services to those seeking to know their (child’s) status and work with the parent and child through the disclosure process . We run camps for youth focusing on lifeskills, HIV and pregnancy prevention. We are also an active member in the Operation Sukuma Sakhe programme in our local wards, assisting our networking and cooperation with government departments.
We work together with the local Amangwe Tribal Authority to bring changes to the policies and practices in the community that perpetuate gender-based violence, including but not limited to the traditional practice of early forced marriage
